I ordered something small on Amazon and selected Standard Shipping, not 1-day or 2-day.

Will it come by the usual USPS carrier, or Amazon's own? The tracking page says:
Carrier: AMZL US, Tracking #: TBA15422 (etc)

The USPS guy just came and it wasn't there, and this was supposed to be the day.

Does "Standard Shipping" automatically mean USPS?

"Standard shipping" according to their help page is usually USPS and sometimes UPS

However the "Carrier: AMZL" thing concerns me.

That is their in-house carrier... Reddit seems to hate it.

I order a lot from amazon, and nothing ever came AMZL.

AMZL is Amazon Logistics - their own delivery network. When did you order it and how long did they say for to arrive?

I just received the package. It's a Sunday morning so obviously it was Amazon, not USPS. The estimate was yesterday.

When you order something, Amazon should tell you EXACTLY whether it's USPS or whatever. Here it was implied by the tracking info. That way, you'll expect it in your mailbox or whatever.

Not obviously at all, as the USPS has been making Sunday deliveries for amazon for a while now.

The guy who dropped it had a flourescent green vest. Didn't see the vehicle.

Can I tell from the sticker whether it was Amazon or USPS? It has bar codes and also says Amazon.

The tracking information is Amazon's way of telling you how your package is arriving. Since they use a variety of shipping methods, they would not be able to put which method will be used on the product page. Once the item(s) ship, they send you the tracking information which includes who is delivering the package.

Sometimes Amazon or UPS will be the initial delivery system, but will hand it off to USPS for the actual home delivery. This information will also be in your tracking information. If you really want to know who delivered your package, you can check that.

I was wondering why I saw USPS trucks going around on Sundays!

and yeah, the last delivery I got was from Amazon, not UPS or USPS or Fed-Ex.
