It's a little early in the day on 11/26 to answer the following question, but did you get your scheduled Sunday delivery? For the one's who didn't, was it due to Amazons trucking service or due to USPS?
I'm showing that it left Amazons facility near my zip code at 3:00 am, but as of 9:30 am it hasn't been handed off to USPS.
We got our Sunday delivery via Amazon Logistics. In addition, there was a USPS truck in our neighborhood yesterday delivering Amazon packages for other customers.
When the program started a few years ago the USPS had also started the half pay carrier assistant (CCA) position and suddenly had a frightful attrition rate of new carriers. The CCAs being the ones tasked with Sunday delivery could not be depended upon to show up, having many quit without a replacement in hand. So postal supervisors facing a Sunday Amazon requirement without the resources to complete the mission where left in a bind. Not enough man hours and no way to report a delay. So they lied. Most places choosing business closed report as the most accurate of the options they had available. The business closed being the post office since drivers (CCAs) can't be kept out over 12 hours a day.
The service however presupposed that everything would get done so there was no truck to take left over Sunday deliveries from that hub back to the main plant to distribute to the actual Monday through Saturday deliver stations. It took about a year for those packages not delivered on Sundays to finally get to the local deliver station by Monday afternoons instead of Tuesday and sometimes Wednesdays.
However a few months ago Amazon started using multiple carriers on Sundays and thus the resources available normally matches the mission given. So much so that in my district at least that half of the Amazon crew has been diverted to larger priority parcels and even though the carrier now has the option of reporting a delay, assuming a supervisor does not then enter a false scan code to show movement, there is little need for it.
All to say at least in my district if the Amazon truck got a piece to the delivery hub, the service got it out. Only legitimate buildings without entry keys were brought back for delivery today.
Yes, we had multiple "no shows" that day. All with false/fabricated reasons by USPS. Had a false "business closed" tracking entry and a false "could not access due to gate code" entry. This is not a business and there is no gate or code of any kind. Sure wish Amazon allowed us to block USPS as a carrier option.
