Against my better judgement, we stopped by the side of the road at a stand advertising 100% cotton sheet sets, $20.
They looked ok in the package so dh bought one.
They were microfiber, and he stuck his toe through the top sheet the first time. My illusions we forever shattered. Those Chinese sheetmakers LIED!
That is so funny, cuz just yesterday as I was on my way home from downtown, on the side of the road/corner they were selling the exact same thing.
Years ago, I snagged a great 32" HDTV during Black Friday. It was an off brand called Hiteker. I was using a 25 year old analog TV set that was falling apart at the seams so I wasn't particular about getting a well known brand. Besides, it was dirt cheap for the price.
I was always curious about the name because it wasn't anything I recognized, and when I looked it up online, I saw that documentation was nonexistent. There wasn't even a home page or anything.
This past week the remote control broke and that's when I began to panic. I thought that since it was a "Hiteker", no universal remote would work with it. Nevertheless, I started doing a search online for information. Turned up nothing until I learned, much to my mortification, that Hiteker was a supplier of TVs for prisons here in the US.
Has anyone of you come across anything surprising like this for a product you bought, especially if it was a Black Friday deal?
I have some walkman radios a middle school gave me years ago. A few of them are the normal black/grey walkman, but the rest of them are from a prison. The "prison walkman" are have clear plastic on them, but work as good as my normal walkman. They are very good radios and i still use them often.
