The moment you leave Home Depot, security alarm blasts... (stores, best, Wal-mart)

What a strange question - First of all - it doesn't "blast" it's the general signal. Happened to me today - I picked up something I'd ordered online and then left through the garden area (where I got some plastic pots) - and the tone went off - he waved me off.
I got annoyed enough with that type of store "security" in south Florida that I took to taking old rfid tags and sticking them on the inside of my belt, and then watching the confusion as I set off the alarm walking in the front of a store and immediately out without touching anything and in full view of employees. The early implementations alarmed at ANY rfid tag, whether it was from anything the store sold or not. In most cases they are about as effective and irritating as car alarms. I no longer pay any attention to them. If I'm stopped, I'm compliant, but if it has gone off because a cashier hasn't removed a tag or nuked it, I make my displeasure amply known. I also avoid places where an employee asks to look at your receipt before allowing you to leave.
I bought two door locks. The tag is embedded inside the nails pouch which is inside the plastic casing which is inside the paper box. So there is no way for employees to remove the tag physically. Unless they have a way to "turn off the tag", it seems the alarm will go off no matter what.

This security system is a bit puzzling.
They can usually deactivate the tags. That's what the big gray thing in the middle of the checkout table is for.

I don't concern myself with the stores that want to look at your receipt. If you sat and watched the front door for any period of time you would understand why they do it. So many thieves out there who walk out with carriage loads of stuff they didn't pay for. This hurts you and I because we pay more for all this stolen stuff.
Wal-Mart where I used to live requires showing receipt to leave. So one has to wait in line for checkout, then wait in line to leave. I understand the reason, but it annoys me anyway.
They also have scales in the self check bagging area, which can tell if the thing you scanned weighs the same as the item you put in your bag.
