Dollar Tree, that is where I do a lot of my shopping.

DT is a true dollar-store, as opposed to a lot of other fakey, cutesy named kinda-dollar-stores.

I guess a push is on by one of the major stock-owners of Dollar Tree to expand their inventory to include stuff that is more than a dollar. WOW, is that a good idea........then they lose their niche and
are just another fakey-fake "dollar store" along with all the other "dollar stores".

That's why one activist investor thinks it's time for Dollar Tree to raise its prices.
Jeffrey Smith, CEO of Starboard Value, a hedge fund, wrote to Dollar Tree CEO Gary Philbin Monday to disclose that his fund had taken a 1.7% stake in the bargain retailer.

Dollar Tree was my go-to for Softsoap, LA's Totally Awesome and The Works toilet cleaner. Now The Works took out the the stuff that made it WORK and it's a bust. And Walmart sells Softsoap for $1 too (although not the larger containers) and I'm there more often. I haven't been in for awhile so I should go back and see if there's anything new and exciting that I can't live without.

I've never been to a dollar type store until the past six months or so. I learned that they are the place to buy greeting cards at a reasonable price. So true! I go to DG for all my greeting cards now.

I haven't seen it here in Arizona, but the dollar store I went to in Minnesota had dishes periodically. A neighbor once commented how nice my dishes were and I almost forgot they were from the dollar store.

A lady at the store told me "this is so good" regarding a bottle labeled "Mucus Relief"

Because she was so adamant, I bought it.

Surprisingly, it works almost as good as the 12 hr clairitin.

Except it's less than .10 cents a pill versus $1 a pill

Mucus relief is great for allergies or colds. It has a blue label.

15 pills per pack for only $1. Everything is a dollar there so it's gotta be dollar tree

Same here. My everyday dishes came from the dollar store about 15 years ago. I also bought drinking glasses there too.

Sometimes I shop at the dollar store for art supplies, and nail polish, and fake flowers as well.

I buy quite a few things at the dollar stores - generally 99 Only and Dollar Tree. If you try a product that you really like - the stick deodorants and the body wash come immediately to mind, you save a great deal of money over shopping at places like Walmart. If a product completely stinks, you are out $1.

I always buy liquid bleach at 99 Only for $1 for a 3 qt package. Last week, I was at my FIL's place and he sent me to Walmart where the Walmart brand was $2.57 per gallon. What a rip-off.

Here in upstate NY,Dollar Generals are popping up in most small towns.
I've been told that they do some location investigating and their business policy is to be 13 miles from the nearest shopping center.
They are a God send to people in these rural towns where more often than not little or no public transportation.
Having said that, most of their food selections are boxed, processed stuff.
My local one tends to have cartons and stock blocking the aisles and it's difficult to walk around...
Dollar Tree is good for cards, gift bags, cleaning supplies and party goods, their helium balloons for a buck are a good deal too.
