Well, I didn't go into all the nitty gritty detail of shipping costs and total costs (didn't want to bore anyone). I plan to get a Target credit card so I can then get free shipping. And depending on the size of my order and other factors, I can sometimes get free shipping from Walmart. So I will likely use Amazon less and less.

But I miss the days where I could just go to Amazon and know I'd get a great price. Now some of the prices are just crazy. I do wonder if I'm seeing the same prices that someone in the continental US would see, or if Amazon prices get jacked up when they detect that I'm in the USVI. Hmmmmm.

You did raise an interesting point about the tariffs though. Where I'm living now, the price of just about anything is at least double (some things triple or quadruple) compared to what I was used to paying in the states, especially groceries. Lordy! I assumed it was because we're on a remote island with high transportation costs, but some of it could be tariffs. It will be interesting to check prices next time I'm back in the states.
Post a few item numbers and I will check the price on my Amazon account. Maybe they are adjusting the price to compensate for the extra shipping cost.

Not sure about USVI, but I have actually compared prices on Amazon vs. in Puerto Rico when I visit and Amazon is often considerably cheaper. For Puerto Rico Amazon offers free Standard Shipping with Prime, which takes 4-7 business days (although my past two orders going there have been delivered more quickly than in the past)
