Return an item on Amazon (pillow, shipping, problem, comments)

I cancelled an order that has not shipped yet.

I placed the order days ago. I went into my orders and it showed it hasn't shipped yet. I cancelled but amazon says sometimes the seller will ship the item anyway.

I think it ships from Hong Kong. If I simply return it unopened in the box, would I get my money back?

I don't order very often from amazon so I'm not familiar with how it works.

In general, yes, a return is something pending in the system until the item is received back, even if the order is still being processed and shipped.

Those orders delivered from overseas can be a messy exception, though. I try to avoid ordering those items, or at least don't order anything that will be a problem if it's not what I want or isn't up to snuff.

I haven't been in that position.

One time though, I wanted to send some pillow covers back and the seller did not do returns...so had to keep them.

Were they custom made pillow covers and that's why they couldn't be returned?

My seller's information doesn't say I can't return anything.

No....they weren't. It was seller policy that I did not see when buying....

Even if you haven't received your item yet, go to the website and through the motions to return....you might see specific comments then, that's what happened to me.

Depends on the seller. If it's shipping from another country it's most likely a 3rd party and you will be at the mercy of their particular return policy.
