As a customer at a grocery store, what do you want the cashiers to say beyond the usual greeting and thanking the customer?
Only Thanks!

Very good

This is more than enough.

Not sure what's the fuss about demanding an "eye contact".

Low wage workers who stand for 8 hours. Seriously, WTF do you want out of their struggling lives?
I agree. Not only that, but they may have to walk home from work after standing all day. All I want is that they aren't rude and they don't over charge me. Other than that, they have no obligation to me. They probably earn minimum wage. It's not their job to be my therapist, alleviate my loneliness or make me feel good about myself. I think it's arrogant for someone who earns a lot more money to walk into these stores and demand the cashier make eye contact or smile at them.
