I can still find them -but have noticed that a lot of canned vegetables seem to be going off the shelf. Try finding canned spinach or canned greens. In general groceries are reducing their canned goods.
May be I am out of the loop and not know what's going on but I've not been able to find any in local grocery stores.
Do we know what's going with the sale of canned blacked eye peas?
Hmmmmm, never shop for them that way, so I don't know.
They are a big part of my diet when I am making my version of "Moors & Christians" (Bep, black beans, brown rice) but I buy everything as dry goods, in the bag.

Wow, haven't seen anyone call it "Moros y cristianos" in decades!

Stores like Walmart and some regional chains of discounters have lowered the prices on their own store brands of canned foods so much, that their competition is taking away the profits in that department, for the full-price stores. Typically, I can find canned vegetables at the discounters for no more than 40% to 50% of their cost.
Checked at several Schnucks, Dierberg, Whole Foods, Target and Walmart.
Nowhere to be found here. Very weird.
My husband buys black eyed peas on occasion. He typically only shops at Dierbergs now that Shop n Save is gone, so I would think that's where he gets them.
I found them at Winco yesterday. I'm in Northern California so that might not be much help if you're somewhere where Winco isn't (western states). But they're out there.

For good reason! I'd never seen that term before.
I agree with those who buy them dried. Even beans that DO take a long time to cook can be soaked overnight, greatly shortening the cooking time. I always buy dried.
Finally found them at a local Asian/Chinese grocery store today.
