People, please take down your Yard Sale/Garage Sale signs after the sale is over! You have others driving in circles trying to find something that is no longer there.
Where I live here in Arizona, sale signs are not allowed on city property. Makes sense & all, bc they don't want their streets junked up with old signs. But there are those times when come Friday, one of last weeks signs are still posted.
I have driven miles trying to find that one sale just to find out it obviously isn't still going on. I have been tempted to take down the address, call or knock on the person's door & tell them, "Shame on you for tricking me. You owe me $2.06 in wasted gas, 85 cents for my wasted time & $5 for hearing my son ask me a million times where the sale is just to have to tell him that we have to turn around bc we are out in B.F.E. looking for a yard sale that closed LAST SATURDAY."

In our area, you can get a ticket for leaving the signs up. Also, you are supposed to (many don't) get a permit to have one. Because many people were abusing the privilege and having a "permanent" yard sale. You are limited to 2 permits a year.
i agree, it is really annoying!!

I hate that where i live in hawaii there are at least 5 signs at each subdivison that are for sales that have been over for like a month. We only stop at sales that have dates on the signs so we dont end up driving all around.

Where I live there are no yard sale signs unless you have one at the end of your driveway that says "Sale around back", or "Sale in garage".

The local paper asks that all yard sale add's (their free) be turned in by Thursday at noon. Friday's paper has a list of addresses and has a map of town with little red dots indicating where the yard sales are.

Works pretty good. But you always have the guy that didn't decide on a yard sale until Friday night. He'll normally put a sign on the back of his car and park it at the corner.

Yes, I hate "expired" yard sale signs, too. My OTHER pet peeve is the EXPLOSION of those little signs that businesses stick into the swale area beside the roadway. Has anyone ever bought anything or used the advertised service because of them??? I've been tempted to just go out in our township, pull 'em all out and return them to the advertiser damaged...

Most yard sales don't even require a sign IMO. When there's all kinds of tables filled with used goodies out in your lawn, near the road, on a Saturday morning, isn't it obvious? lol It just seems like that's enough to bring in people that are looking for yard sales.

Unless as Elkhunter mentioned, the sale is out back or in a in an actual garage ... but in that case it's a bad business location.
