I was off this week, and our doorbell rang three times ( not counting Halloween). Just like we don't answer phone calls from unknown numbers, we don't answer the door either. Twice, cards from roofers were left, the third person was a woman in high heels who left no information. We live at the top of a steep hill, she made an effort to get up here, but ignored the fact that there were three trucks in the driveway and power tools being used in the back, as we are replacing our deck this week. We watched her walk back to her car, clueless as to why she made the climb but didn't actually seem to want to talk to us.

Whatever, we have a prominent "No Soliciting" sign at the entrance of our neighborhood. I feel no obligation to engage with anyone who rings my bell, since anyone who knows us comes to the back door. In fact, we DO need a roof in the near future, but would never use a company that goes door-to-door. So has anybody actually signed a contract from somebody who rang their bell? I don't know of anyone who has, are they all scammers?

I don’t think they’re all scammers. We just had a door to door salesman the other day, a representative from Verizon FiOS. I was actually shocked, I find it weird in this day and age that there are still door to door sales people. He was at least trained to stay far away from the door he was probably 5-7 feet away for me talking to me while I was at the door, which is good because I found it odd and it made me uncomfortable to have a stranger there.
