I think too many people emphasize that mis-step in JCP's recent history, when there have been plenty of other mistakes that had more negative effects on its ability to survive. That CEO debacle occurred seven or eight years ago, and there have been plenty of questionable choices made in the interim.

This describes my area perfectly! While I seldom purchase my clothing at JCP. It was a store that my husband would go to. That JCP store was closed a couples of years ago. Now the JCP which is an hour away is on the closing list. Our shopping options are farm type stores. That’s fine if you’re looking for Levi’s and work clothing. To pick up a new suit we would have to drive over two hours. Who has time to drive four plus hours for a quick purchase.
