Let's face it. Not everyone works in a climate control environment. I've purchased three products over the past year that will help me beat the heat this summer. I work in an office/shop environment that easily gets over 90 degrees in the summer. The office area has a window AC that we used but unfortunately a few employees complained that we were sitting in air conditioner and they weren't (pretty childish and boy I was pissed) so management limited the use of the air conditioner out of "fairness" (we'll see how long the computer equipment holds up in that heat) So to circumvent that I purchased three products.

1. Icybreeze portable cooler that has an air conditioner on it.

https://www.icybreeze.com/

Basically its an ice cooler that you can use for drinks and food but acts as an air conditioner too. You add a little water, put bagged ice or ice blocks in and and the cold water runs to the heat exchanger and blows out 26 degrees dry air out of a hose. Keep in mind this is not like those homemade AC coolers that are basically swamp coolers that blows hot air over ice. This is not a swamp cooler and will blow out cold DRY air even in humid climates. Its battery powered or you can hook it up to an outlet. Its not cheap. Once you buy the cooler and accessories you are going to spend about $400. It doesn't cool a room but its meant to be a personal AC that blows cold air on you. You do go through about 3 bags of ice a day but its worth the money if you are working in a miserably hot environment. It is an air conditioner. The only difference is that it uses ice water instead of refrigerant and you don't have to vent out hot air so you can literally use it anywhere

2. Lasko 4924 high velocity blower fan

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Lasko-30-in...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

I bought this fan to compliment my Icybreeze. Icybreeze puts out very cold air but you have to aim the hose it you. The Lasko tower fan will help circulate chill air around you in a smaller area. This is no ordinary tower fan. It doesn't just circulate air, it blows air. Because of the power of the blower the air feels chill even when its hot. Not like a typical fan that only circulates hot air.. Its about $77 dollars and you can get it at Lowes or Amazon. The combination of the Lasko fan and the Icybreeze will make it feel like I'm sitting near a traditional air conditioner unit.

3. Cool Fans neck fan

https://www.target.com/p/cool-fans-w...e/-/A-81299004

When I'm not able to sit or stand around my cooler and Lasko fan and have to move around this rechargeable battery neck fan that I purchased at Target for $9.99 will keep me cool. Charging time is about 5 hours and you get up to 6 hours use. It has 3 speeds. I won't have to worry about going through 6 hours of use because the majority of the time I will be near my cooler and Lasko fan. So I'll only use this when I'm moving around. This is a good product for the money. I've seen similar products four times the price that doesn't cool as well as this. After researching various products, these are the top three alternatives to traditional air conditioner. If you live in dry heat climates like in Arizona an evaporative cooler (swamp cooler) is a great alternative but unfortunately if you live in the Southeast United States, that's not a good option. Hope this helps anyone trying to stay cool this summer.

Great! I don't have a need for the first two items above these days, but I have a different brand of that neck fan & can't wait to use it this summer! Great for walks in the park or biks rides if it starts getting hot.

I also had this O2 necklace fan:
https://o2cool.com/product/deluxe-necklace-fan-purple/

I have one of these handheld fans...it's around here somewhere I'm sure:
https://o2cool.com/product/sport-misting-fan-teal/

At a county fair one year, I bought a misting fan similar to this:
https://o2cool.com/product/deluxe-mi...unter-display/

I keep a small fan clamped onto my bathroom counter in my bathroom year-round similar to this:

I also keep one of these Vornado desk fans on my desk year-round:

All those are great. Especially the misting fan. Who doesn't like a cool mist of water blowing at you.. When I was a kid I could play in 90 degree weather like it was nothing. I'm almost 43 years old and can't take heat like I use to lol. Instead of getting involved in the childish drama at work over using the company AC, I just took matters into my own hands.

Mowing a lawn or field in 95+ degree temps is no fun. I use a phase change cool vest

https://www.rehabmart.com/post/do-co...-cool-you-down

That covers the basics of keeping core temperature down.

Then, in addition, I crush some ice and put it in a ziplock sandwich bag, grab a washcloth and my straw hat. The bag of ice goes in the straw hat, the washcloth or other cloth is then placed in, and the whole thing flipped onto the head. Cooling of the head is amazingly effective at keeping comfortable.

In a push situation, grab an old t-shirt, fill sandwich bags with ice and attach them to the outside of the t-shirt (staple or safety pin through the top flaps), then wear an overshirt as insulation. If too cold, stick another t-shirt UNDER the one with the ice bags.

Sounds good, gsoboi78 & harry chickpea!

Oh yes, I also bought one of these cooling towels a while back:
https://www.mission.com/collections/...cooling-towels

Now that we have to wear masks, I should get a cooling one or two for the summer months. They also have cooling performance caps! I started biking, so I want so stay as cool as possible.

ALSO, look at this thread I had started about cool fabric clothing:

$100! I'd have to be out in the heat on a regular basis to finally get that. But it's worth it for those who are.
