We’re considering a cordless vacuum for our area rug for quick pickup of dog hair (short hair chihuahua) in place of the quality canister vacuum. We would still use the canister vacuum once a month but use the quick rechargeable vacuum almost daily. Any decent quality brands and models for $200 and less?

I have an LG that I got using a deal my daughter had (she works there) and I like it a lot! It is a bit difficult to empty, but I think they have fixed that in the later models.

Eufy!!!
Scroll down to "The Strategist"
Have it and love it!!

Comes with attachments and two batteries. It's light, handy, has two suction powers, two in one: hand vac and upright floor vac.
Easy to store and quiet.
It was a Christmas gift that I really appreciate.
Look for specials (brand website, Amazon, Target...)
Right now a great price!

Second choice:

I'm getting a Dyson V7. A friend has one and likes it and reviews say it's good on dog hair. It's $299 but I checked out cheaper ones and I think this one is worth the money. It's the cheapest Dyson model.

We have a Roomba. It works great for dog hair if it is a short haired dog (Mastiffs and great Danes in our case). We found it works better than any vacuum for picking up dog hair on our area rugs, I have no idea why it works better, but it does.

If your rug has fringe, you have to tuck the fringe under or the fringe will tangle up in the Roomba.

Roomba will also pick up long hair, but it will get tangled around the brush and you have to constantly remove the brush and clean it out.

We have the Tineco A11 hero and it is amazing. I don't even use my regular vacuum anymore. It is a little over your budget at $260, but they make an A10 hero model that is on sale on amazon for $180.
