I never said I was "worried" about it. I am appalled by it, but I am not worried. I have never seen such catty people before on any other website as I have on this one.

Appalled? Over how a stranger spends their own money? Its not like the trash can is made from some endangered species... It's hide and wood.

One thing people tend to forget is that the reason why some common items are so cheap is economy of scale,you can produce hundreds and thousands and spread the cost,but with exclusive/unusual items which are not expected to be sold to everyone ,the fixed cost has to be shared with less .
eg some designer handbags goes for $34k
