My wife and I normally liked KFC pot pies. I mean they weren't gourmet, but were pretty good for fast food versions. Usually flaky crust, nice chunks of chicken, and good taste. They were cooked in a pan that seem a bit stouter than typical store bought pot pies.

However the other day my wife picked up a couple since I had a late meeting. They were nothing like what we were used to. Smaller, almost no chicken, and a much more paste like filling. For all the world they looked like typical frozen pot pies from the grocery store.

Anyone know what changed?

Their pot pie was awful 30 years ago. More potatoes than chicken.

I haven't had one from KFC in a few years but when I did they were tasty. KFC is a hit or a miss like most fast food places it could have been a bad batch.

A lot of places are cutting costs though and cutting corners so I'm not surprised.

Marie Callendar pot pies have shrunk too, probably came from the same supplier for KFC.

I had my first and last Marie Callender's pot pie a few months ago. It was so dry as to be inedible. I can eat almost anything, but I tossed that halfway through.

As bad as they are, I love me some Banquet pot pies.

I always buy Stouffer when it is on sale, not sure if they make pot pie,but their one meal deal is better than all the others on the market.
Costco has a very nice chicken pot pie, chunks of meat, but price is higher.

I discovered that M.C now makes 'large' pot pies that are slightly bigger and have more filling (usually 25+ grams of protein versus 17g). I'm with you the normal ones are much too skimpy on the filling. The restaurant ones are the best but pretty expensive.

I prefer going to Costco and pick up a rotisserie chicken with some veggies and make my own. Can have as much yummy filling as I want that way.

KFC was ruined years ago when they changed the recipe. Use to be you could smell them a mile away, now you can't get that great smell when you're inside the store. Quit buying any of their products long ago.
