I generally avoid fast food. I have not been to a McDonald's in multiple years.

I don't think fast food dining rooms ever recovered from the pandemic.

Before I stopped going to fast food places, I used the self serve soda machines when dining in. There were no issues with them.

The whole better hygiene/less germs slant is BS. I have a feeling if you were to swab the fountain machines behind the counter and compare them to the ones in the dining area, the ones behind the counter would be disgusting too.

The McD at 3rd and Pine in Seattle has been a hotspot for crime for years, with the homeless sleeping on the street in front of it and across the street well before Covid. I wouldn't think of ever going into that one, I'm amazed it's still open. In those few cases where I have had fast food and there was self-serve drinks, I never
went back for the free refills, I just drank it with the food and left. More often though, I would use the drive thru and get handed the drinks.
