What do you stuff in your Christmas Stockings? (socks, stores, buy)

Let's share and kibbitz on stocking stuffers. My stockings are almost my favorite part of Christmas. Each year I try to stuff the stockings with unique, fun and surprise items!

What do you put in stockings or what do you hope you find in yours??

I'm sad to say that my husband doesn't like stuffing so we've forgone that amongst ourselves. I don't like it but it's just the way our holidays have evolved. For my kids, I put in DVDs, last year I did snowglobes (but we had to pick up water and glitter from our floor by mid afternoon), hair clips, some candy, plastic jewelry, random art supplies, and little books from the dollar store. That's what I did last year. I don't know what I'll put in this year. I'd love ideas.....I have four girls (6,4,2 and 11 months)...

This is not about stuffers, but for the past two years I have done a thing called the golden gift, I made ornaments that say on them, on gold paper, with cardboard on the inside, each with the kids name on them, and it says to get your golden gift, turn this in, something like that.

I snuck the ornaments on the tree, and the kids saw a few days later or so. This is to be turned in for a 'big' present, after opening all the other stuff.

The kids know that my dh and I are going through a separation right now, and that things are tight, and when we were putting the ornaments on the tree, they asked me if I was doing the golden gift this year. Sad.

I may try to swing some sort of a golden gift in there... somehow.... but I thought it was something else, for them to ask me if they should put the ornament on the tree or not.

My kids are the best.

Growing up stockings were always full of candy, fruit, and there was always a new toothbrush.

I have always wanted to find some incredible little thing in my stocking, but it has never happened. My husband is completely lost when it comes to shopping, but I have a friend who helps him out. She usually finds some incredible christmas ornament to sneak in there. Here is my fave 2004 Cookie Doe Hallmark ornament

Now my pets get really cool stuff in their stockings......

I try to make stockings interesting too; so stuff like coins (collector / foreign / silver dollars), small specialty foods, CDs / DVDs, Christmas ornaments, bath and body products, magazines (help expand capacity), small bottles of liquor (for grownups), and candy.

Growing up, stockings were always my favorite! After all the presents were opened, mom and dad reminded us of our stockings! Mom always had candy, gifts certificates to music stores and movies, etc. (This was before gift cards!)

Now my kids are 7 and 5, and I love stuffing their stocking so much, they usually get 2! I am always picking up glow sticks, stickers and coloring books at the dollar store. My daughter always gets nail polish or dress up makeup and my so always gets Hot Wheels or other cars. I always look at the Disney store (outlet) all year for cheap stuff too! They have their own i-pods, so they will be getting i-tune gift cards this year too. Even though I hate Mcdonalds, the kids also get a few bucks from their too (usually $5).

I just try to think of things they would usually ask for on a regular basis,but that I would not buy on a regular basis. Oh! The Lifesaver storybook is a tradition in our family started by my grandmother 40 or so years ago. They get those now along with the new "Hubba Bubba" version!

Always a toothbrush, a pair of socks, and candy. Sometimes an itunes gift card.

My grandmother always made sure that there was a silver dollar in the toe of everyones stocking.
I now do it with silver eagles.

I fill hubby's with, gum, a cigar or two, his cologne and maybe a fishing lure.

Mine always has the gum I like, silly gadgets and hershey's kisses.....he says that I always get all of his kisses!!

I always put lottery scratch-offs (rip-offs) in my husband's stocking, beef jerky, too.

For kids: crayons or other art supplies, pez dispensers, coal gum (comes in a little red bag), extra batteries for their gifts, for my girls, nail polish and some poppin' lip gloss - for my boy, baseball & football trading cards.
