I don't understand why anyone would want to buy a movie.
I rent it, watch it, and send it back.
If I do want to see it again, it probably won't be for several years so why would I want it hanging around taking up space?

I usually go for whatever store is having a good sale on new or used product. If we're talking about non-online retailers that are still left(and never mind how funny the datedness of this poll is, even including dead chains like Hollywood), FYE kills all of them(even Best Buy), but they're hardly any left, and that company is in trouble(read a recent report they have slightly under 400 stores left). All-time, my favorite was Virgin Megastore, but they all went kaput in 2009, and the Chicago one closed in 2007. I suppose my FYE vote is more of a sympathy one, though I only go there when they have a decent sale going. FYE's regular prices suck, and that'll be why that whole parent company including their sister stores(Suncoast, Sam Goody, etc.) all go out of business, if it comes to that in the future.
For myself, the most convenient options are normally Target, Wal-Mart, or Dollar Tree. I wish the FYE's I go to infrequently, were closer to where I live....
If new, usually Costco. I prefer to buy used because I don't want the studios getting royalty money off my purchase. I usually go to FYE because they have some sort of buy one, get one deal. The closest FYEs to me don't have a great selection of Blu-Rays and the current sale is buy two, get one for $1 or something like that. There's a FYE about a half-hour away at a mall I actually like that has a far better selection and better sales. I went in there a couple weeks ago and it was buy one, get one half off, so in theory you could get Star Wars 1-3 for $40 something and then get Star Wars 4-6 for $20 something, instead of the nearly $90 they want for the six in one box. (Then again, Costco still has 1-6 for $89 or so.)
Target has $5 Blu-Rays most of the time.
CDs I typically get used at FYE or for $2 at The Salvation Army, which is fine because my tastes in music generally died about ten years ago.
