Happy New Year

When I put my clothes in my 4 yr. old dryer this morning, hit the start button, the dryer has power & goes on, but as soon as I remove my finger the dryer stops. Of course the 4 yr. warranty ran out last week. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. kelsie

Sounds like you need it repaired (we also have had appliances go w/i a week or so of the warranty). I'm disappointed in Kenmore anymore - they used to last forever, now it seems like there is a built-in problem w/i several yrs. Like they say "they don't build 'em like they used to"

Actually, Kenmore doesn't build them. They come from other manufactors. Last time I checked, Kenmore large appliances come from Whirlpool.

Sounds like the sitch;that can happen to any dryer pretty much. As long as you don't have elctronis controls it should be reasonable to fix.

Kenmore appliances can be real hit-or-miss. I've had premature failures on some, but I have a Kenmore washer and dryer going on 13 years old, both have never had any problems.

You can probably just lean a heavy book against the switch to keep it turned on, and keep an eye on it, as an interim measure until you can get the switch replaced.

Sounds to me like a relay is not latching the way it should. I did a little research, and found this.

Is yours a Kenmore Elite? There are people describing your exact problem on that board.
