Why do some people say "WalMart's" instead of WalMart?

It doesn't really "bother" me, but I do wish to know what causes certain language to hook into the vernacular. Katie asks "who cares?" I do - I have immense curiosity about word and phrase origins. I think it is absolutely fascinating to discover how words come into existence. Also the psychology behind the people adopting these terms.

I think "Wally World" has stuck because it is alliterative - and oh how Americans love alliteration. I'm surprised people don't pluralize that too: "Wally World's." "Mickey-Dee's" is probably a corruption of "McDee's" and exists as a diminutive name for the world's favorite fast food restaurant.

"Wally World's" isn't plural, it's possessive .

It's plural AND possessive when I apply it to my locale as there are about 3 of them in different directions within a 20-40 min drive from my house. Only wish they were a bit more consistent in their layout plans, esp when it concerns the bathrooms. Tip: don't be in a major rush that you forget to remember which store you're in or better yet, always check the door signs
