After reading these posts I'm losing sleep thinking about the crime in the Shreveport area. I'm used to zero crime. Where I used to live we didn't even have a lock on our front door, and left the keys in the ignition of the car in the driveway! I know I won't find that anywhere else but, I'm terrified now to move to Louisiana. Safety is my number one concern, and having good neighbors. I don't care how far away I live from Shreveport, I want to be able to walk around and be home alone at night without worrying. Where oh where should I look? Are all the gated communities safe, or just give a false sense of safety? The highest in price we could go is about 250,000.

Help!

Worry not CoCo! For $250K you can find a safe neighborhood. Park your car in the garage though. It's better for the interior in the South
There's lots and lots of safe options north of I220 in Bossier City. Nice, quiet, safe neighborhoods. You might even a find safe place for less than 250.

Send me a direct message and I'll give you the name and number of an honest realtor who is a deacon of the First Babist Church in Bossier City.

Oh coco! I agree with Ziasforever. When I first moved here 8 years ago (single mom with a 6 year old) everyone I talked to painted this place as a hell hole. Ive been living here for 8 years now and unless you go to the "bad" parts of town, you have absolutely NOTHING to worry about. I personally live in SBossier and I absolutely LOVE it here. Great schools (Bellaire Elem. Curtis, Elm Grove MS, and Parkway HS are in my opinion, the best in the area). Lots of military and retirees in the area who have always looked out for one another, and just a few miles away from restaurants/shopping, etc. I am moving to Ohio in a month and I am getting the same responses about the area that I did here and I am not in the least bit worried because I know that I will find the best place that suits me and my boy without "the horrors of crime". Good luck to ya!!!!!
