Just found out today that we have termites! Called one person and his estimate is somewhere between $600 and $1,000. Is that reasonable? Does that fix not only getting rid of the termites, but repair the wall? I hate call these folks and getting estimates - just like having a car repair. Never know when they are jerking you around. Any suggestions?

Sound about right depending on the size of house and how they will treat. Make sure they use Thermador liquid pumped into the ground, that is the most effective way. Bait traps are hit or miss, first you need a termite to stumble across the bait wood, then report back to nest and after they determing the termites are going to that trap, they change the wood to poision to try to kill the termites. Thermador soaks into the ground completely around the house, when the termites come incontact, they gey infected and take the poision back to the nest and start infecting the whole nest. I unfortunately got termites in a brand new house, 1 1/2 years after being built, it cost $1600 to treat. The cost should vary on the perimeter of your house, since they will dig a 6" trench all the way around. This cost will probable not include any wood repair, and I don't think I would want and exterminator doing carpenter work, you will also need to find a good contractor to repair any damage. I hope this helped.
