I am interested in the history of Bossier and Webster Parish, LA. My Great-great-grandfather moved there from Georgia in the late 1850's before Bossier Parish was divided. His last name was Bryan. I see in the 1860 census there were two Bryan brothers already living in Bossier Parish but I have been unable to discover a relationship to my relative. My Grandfather and his siblings were born in Webster Parish.
When I traveled to Cotton Valley last year (area where Mr. Bryan lived) I was told that a newspaper had printed the history of the area "a couple of years ago." Does anyone have a copy of that paper? Is there a book or books that have been published on the history of that area?
I found a monument "In Memory" of my G-g-grandfather, but have been told by a cousin that he was not buried in Applegate Cemetery where the monument is, but in a Presbyterian Church cemetery, in Webster Parish.
All help is greatly appreciated!

There is a great geneology section in the Broadmoor Library in Shreveport that deals with Bossier Parish (and Webster). Unfortunately, they have very little online, you will have to go to the location to obtain info.
