My family and I are moving to the Shreveport area the first week of January. We currently live in San Antonio (military family).
I would like any and all advice that you can give. I want to know the best schools, safest neighborhoods, good shopping areas, etc.

My daughter is 2, so she will be going to preschool sooner rather than later. My husband will be going to base ( I think) for work. I have read that Benton/North Bossier areas are good. Is that true? I also read that magnet schools are the best. Which one's? What is testing like? Is tuition involved? Which public schools are the best? Family friendly/safe neighborhoods?

Please give me honest straight forward advice. We just found out that we are moving, and I have 2 weeks to plan...ahh. Thanks in advance.

Best place would be Stockwell Elem. in Bossier City-areas include Stockwell place, Lafayette Park, Dogwood (check on this one because part of Dogwood is in the Haughton school district). Safe area, near lots of shopping, etc.

I definitely reccomend looking in Bossier/Benton. Apollo Elementary and Benton Elementary are both very nice. Stockwell is also nice also.

Good neighborhoods: Lakewood, Rosedale, Greenacres Place, Carriage Oaks, Stockwell Place, Dogwood. I am not as familiar with Benton neighborhoods.

Hi, I just saw your post. If you have not already chosen a neighborhood I highly recommend north bossier. There are 2 brand new elementary schools, WT Lewis and Legacy, both are fantastic!

North Bossier (north of I-220 between Benton and Airline). Low crime. Great schools.
