Hi Everyone,

I've been on the hunt for a new job for a while now, and it seems like every week I'm getting leads in new places. Up until now, everything I've looked at has been on the west coast, but my company has an opening in Shreveport and it would be career suicide for me to turn it down.

My wife and I are still relatively young, early 30s, and definitely lean more to the left socially, but we're easy to get along with and don't mind living with people anywhere along the spectrum. Ideally, we'd like to live somewhere we can walk to restaurants and shops and is dog friendly.

I don't have high hopes, but it can't hurt to ask. Any and all input is welcome.

Thanks,
LS

Buy or rent? Budget? Where is job location(approx.) And how long a commute can you tolerate? These will help folks give you better advice.

We'll rent first, then think about buying down the road after we've settled in. Budget is very flexible. I'm more interested in a location that's youthful and vibrant than anything at this point. Work is at the Air Force base. I'd prefer to be within 15 minutes in traffic, but again, my highest priority is to find a location that suits our lifestyle, so a longer commute is by no means a deal-breaker.

South Bossier has several communities to offer that are within 5 miles of the Base, and new. A lot of people have price shock when they come here from other areas of the country because we have an appreciating market. Home values are not going down. They're going up every year. Rent is a good bit more than a mortgage. If you're looking for a home between the 150s and 270s then Savannah Place is a great place to start. if you're looking in the 270's and up then Garden's of Southgate is good.
