Or surrounding areas like Bolinger, Benton, etc?
What is it like living there? Are there any hotels, motels, restaurants, shopping areas, etc? What do you do for recreation? Do you have to go to Shreveport or Bossier City to shop, enjoy a movie, etc?
How safe is Plain Dealing.... is the crime rate high ...low?
Is it still as rural and laid-back as it was in the mid-1990's?
That's the last time I was there.
Thanks.

Smile Plain Dealing

Did you live in Plain Dealing in the 90's??? It's still very rural....low crime rate. Probably much more poor than the 90's. I work in the medical clinic, & live in Bossier. Shreveport/Bossier is Fabulous. Economy better & better every year. Over populated I think, but wonderful place to live. Great places to dine & shop. Hope this helps. Take Care~

Plain Dealing? Pardon me while I laugh! *sorry*

There is nothing in Plain Dealing. North Bossier has grown toward Benton in the past 5 years so much that they basically touch now, but Plain Dealing has not seen any new growth and is unlikely to... ever. Crime is too high for such a small town, so people aren't moving there. They're moving to Bossier City, Benton, and Cypress Lake in droves but not further north in Bossier Parish.

I live in Haughton... hard to believe, but it's growing rapidly as well. In the next 5 years the town will have doubled in size. I live in a newer area and just down the road are two large, new subdivisions. As Cyber Command comes online in the next couple of years, Bossier City, Benton, and Haughton will only begin to grow more rapidly.

I have family ties there.
I was in Shreveport, Bossier City, and Plain Dealing this past summer. I've noticed the growth in Shrvpt/Bossier Cty. You think Shvpt/Bossier is overpopulated? Try living in metro-Atl.
I'm thinking of relocating to Ark/La/Tex area in the not too distant future. Probably Texarkana... the Texas side.

That is sad about the crime rate, etc.

I was born in Shreveport, but have family ties and roots in Plain Dealing and Ark/La/Tex area; although I grew up in the North.
I spent a lot of memorable times there in the 1960's.
I cannot believe the population in Plain Dealing has not changed much in over 40 years.

Northwest Louisiana has a very rich history.

Sorry that you do not realy don't know what you are talking about. I live in P.D. If you would check you would find that P. D. has the lowest crime rate in the parish we can still leave the doors unlocked if you want to. we do have to drive to Bossier for most things but when you live in a rural area that is just part of it. As far as growth I do not see where Haughton has realy done much either. But come on up to p.d meet some folks and have a meal you will see what a great place we have here

My best friend lives in PD. There's really nothing there in the form of shopping and entertainment. I don't know if you have kids, but the schools are nothing to write home about, either. My friend has had no problem with crime whatsoever, though. They live out in the STICKS, though, not right in town. If the schools wouldn't be an issue for you and you wouldn't mind driving into Bossier for shopping & entertainment purposes, PD would probably be fine for you. The housing/land prices are super low. We'd buy land there ourselves if we didn't have kids in school to worry about.

Plain Dealing's crime rate is considerably higher than that of Benton, its relatively larger neighbor to the south. Per capita, it ranks among the highest crime rates in Bossier Parish. Sorry for you, pal, I DO know what I'm talking about. I've done my homework. You go on and leave your doors unlocked and live in your state of naïveté, and I'll live in the real world with my doors locked and my guns nearby.

Just ask the people of Blanchard, where that preacher was killed in his home a few years ago on a very quiet, peaceful, rural street. They'll tell you that there's no such thing as a place where you can safely leave your doors unlocked anymore. And of all places, Plain Dealing would be one of the last places I'd consider doing that.

I drove through Plain Dealing this afternoon on my way back in from Arkansas... no thanks, I'd rather not stop off there, for a meal or otherwise.

And for the record, Haughton has grown quite a bit over the past few years. My subdivision is proof of that, along with all those around it.
