A little about myself: I am 25 and single. I want to go back to school to be a teacher. After hitting a rough patch in life I currently live in New Mexico with my mom. My mom is 90% certain that she wants to retire by next summer and move back to her home-state of Alabama. My mom also wants me to follow her and go to school there. Unless I go to NMSU in fall 2012, I will have no reason to stay in New Mexico. However, if I follow my mom to Alabama I will have to pay out-of-state tuition. Since I pay for my schooling- with no help from mom- I am looking for schools with low tuition and have good reviews. I am also looking for places with low cost of living and are welcoming; things like crime and lack of night-life don't worry me.

I visited the Shreveport area a few years back and did enjoy my time there. I looked into the LSUS education program and did like what I saw. In spite of this, I keep getting negative reviews about LSUS and one positive review. Is it really that bad?

I am also interested in Grambling State University and Southern University in Baton Rouge. I have been to neither of those places.

So tell me what you think about LSUS, Grambling State University, Southern University, and are there any other schools I should also consider?

Thanks in advance
