Hi,

I am very familiar with South Louisiana but not familiar at all with the boiled crawfish scene in the northern part of the state. Can you head to a number of different seafood markets and pick up good, boiled or live crawfish?

I know the Mudbug Festival was this weekend and that was a great time when I last went. Some of the crawfish was great and some not so good. Anyways, I just wanted to get your input since I am a crawfish junkie if I would be dissapointed in the seafood markets and vendors in the area.

Have a blessed day!
Kevin

We don't have many seafood markets like they do in south Louisiana, but one of my favorite places to get boiled crawfish in Shreveport is at Shaver's. They operate out of what I believe is an old gas station. They have their catering trailers set up outside where they do the boiling, and you go inside to place your order and they put it together for you. Shavers has generally always had nice medium-sized crawfish, with the occasional enormous crawfish or small crawfish. But they are generally spiced up nicely. I know I had a batch the other day and my wife said I looked like I had lipstick on. I told her that was because my damn lips were on fire!

Lol! I love crawfish. Never heard of Shavers, though. Since CrawfishOne closed down, we've only had Crawfish King. Does Shavers add lemon and lime to the boil?
