I have never been to a Whole Foods but I am glad to see one come. I do know of several items they sell that I have tried at a friend's home in Zachary that I like.

Additionally, a Walmart supercenter is to be built near Blanchard and rumor has it a Home Depot will also go up near Blanchard. Taking advantage of I-49 and Blanchard's relatively high median income although the town is not that big. It's at least as big as Haughton and a bit nicer IMO.

S'port's growth looks like it will be north which makes the Wal-Mart expansion a no-brainer. It's pretty much an open slate up there and with I-49 development... I can only imagine what the area will be like in the next 10 yrs.

The Whole Foods Mkt is a bit of a surprise considering that it is more expensive than most food stores in S'port. I suppose it will definitely make a dent however in some of the local shopping habits at smaller specialty grocers. I like Whole Foods and shop at those in Dallas when I'm over that way but I generally get the gourmet stuff that you can't find locally here or the occasional artisan cheese that's on sale...that and some wines. Whole Foods has pre-prepared (how's that for an oxymoron) foods in their deli that is basically really good grub that you can take home and heat up. And their meat dept. is superb. I wonder if it will be the same as in Dallas... those stores are awesome...with coffee bars, dine-in deli's with music performers... cooking demos...it's pretty awesome to visit one.
