The accent has more twang in Shreveport. More rhotic (pronounces r's).

And the same for the food. Northern Louisiana is more like East Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
You can find some pretty good Barbeque and Catfish. But won't find much real Cajun, or Creole.

Rain? So rain is somehow a New Orleans thing?

Humidify is noticeably less here.

As for roaches, I have to say I haven't seen many (other than my first week here when there were a bunch chillin outside of a drain down from my hotel room).
The Shreveport rats must be eating them.

Most places have rednecks. I wouldn't strike Dothan off that list.

Sarcasm obviously wasn't strong enough. My bad.

How on earth are Shreveport and New Orleans alike?

That was a few years back, but I still have no use for the place.
Used to run up to the Hayride a lot. Even there, some folks were kinda snooty.

I wouldn't even set foot on Shreveport again, if they raised a monument to Paul Prudhomme or Justin Wilson.
Oh wow, that would be enough for me to never come back.
