That's a shame; I love Murrell's for the history as well as the food. But as one poster said, the way King's Highway is going, it probably will become a tattoo parlor or some such.

I guess on my next trip to Shreve, I'll eat at Strawn's too!

Yeah, Edwin was having lunch with me in there back in the mid eighties. Here in Baton Rouge we still have Frank's, but that's about it. Heck, except for Frank's about the ONLY place to go for breakfast is Waffle House or IHOP since all of the Denny's and Shoney's have closed.

More than that, it was the place that most of the old Louisiana Hayride performers headed to eat after the shows. It was a favorite of Johnny Horton and many of the others.

It was close to Horton's home over on Audubon Street and he went there a lot besides just after the Hayride,

FWIW....Murrell's was bulldozed last month. Nothing left on site except a slab.

What else is new in Shreveport. The best restaurant to ever close in Shreveport was the old Freeman and Harris restaurant on Western.
