Thank you all for helping us figure this one out.
FYI...We hated Columbia, MO....boring. And I DON'T like snow.

Default Bought a house...

Hey all! We bought a house in Benton and we move in 2 weeks!!!! So excited! From what I understand North Bossier parish is the way to go if you wanting safe, suburban living!

No doubt. Not too far north, but Benton is just fine. North Bossier City and Benton are nice, but further north in Plain Dealing it's not very nice at all. Lots of drug-related crime up there for such a small town, but that does happen. Bossier City and Benton are both booming, though, so you should love it.

For a while southeast Shreveport was the closest decent shopping area for Bossier City residents (and from north Bossier/Benton that's a 30-minute drive.) But now that they've added all the shopping/dining options to the Airline/220/Viking corridor you will find all the same conveniences just 5-10 minutes away.

Welcome to Shreveport-Bossier.

We just returned from visiting our daughter in Bossier City. Her husband is in the Air Force, and they have a 15 month old baby. They live in a very nice subdivision. I am not sure of the name, although they live on Gaston Circle. The lots are large, about 1/4 acre. The neighborhood is very safe, the people are friendly, and there are a lot of young families. There were several homes for sale. The prices are very resonable $140-190K. There are 2 parks, and a swimming pool near by. We fell in love with the area, and can't wait to visit again! Good luck in your search.

That would be Savannah Place. I know this only because I looked in that subdivision when I bought my home. I REALLY wish I had bought there... not that I don't like Haughton, but I would have been able to stay in Bossier City which is where I feel I belong. You are right, Savannah Place is a very nice, quiet neighborhood and well planned out.

Since you fell in love with the area and can't wait to visit again, perhaps there's a place here for you as well?

Is there anywhere around the regional airport that is nice to live for a young family? Thinking of moving there from Socal.
