My husband and I are moving back to the area after being away since 2008. He is originally from Turner County and his family is still living there. We want to be close to Sioux Falls as we will be driving there daily so looking to see which areas we need to consider.

We have a child who will be in 4th grade so need a safe neighborhood (Although I know Sioux Falls isn't bad at all, especially compared to cities we have lived in), but a great school is a must and one with gifted/talent program or STEM is preferred.

What are new restaurants that have popped up over the last 5-10 years that we need to try? Please tell me Johnny Carino's is still good. I have missed that place. Although I am now vegan, I will have to change what I order there when we return.

Any fun places to take kids to for entertainment? How has the mall held up?

Thanks

I just moved back in November, so I can't help you with the school district part. However, I'd VERY STRONGLY recommend you reconsider being a vegan. I have several friends who "became that" while living in Ca and they all have health problems, I suspect as a result. I was also one for a while, but feel so much better now after having come to my senses. LOL. Not to mention, becoming much healthier.

There' s a ton of restaurants. Many good ones. You won't believe the downtown now. I just came from Riverfest tonight. Fun time!!

Thanks. I have been vegan for awhile and have no intentions of going back to eating animals and animal by-products. People only end up not feeling well because they aren't eating a proper diet.

I will have to check out what new restaurants have opened in the area.

Ok, I'm not going to try and convince you to eat the way our bodies are meant too eat. LOL. I've cleared my conscience by telling you that the vegan friends I have have almost all gotten sick in he long run because we are made to be paleos. And I feel so much better after having been a vegan for a time before regaining my health.

You will find many vegan options in Sioux Falls. There are also many wonderful grocery stores. You can find plenty at hy-vee and Pomegranate is a "health food" store that has many great options. I mean there's even organic salad bars and one good one at hy vee.

I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years and I think there's better options in Sioux Falls than there.
