I may be traveling there for a nursing assignment and wondering what kind of entertainment is available. What kind of outdoors activities? What kind of good restaurants (4 and 5 star) How is the weather in the summer?

Falls Park and the Washington Pavilion are must stops. Sioux Falls has gobs of Chain restaurants. Not sure of any 4 or 5 star ratings in all honesty.

Minervas is one of the nicer restaurants in town and has a good reputation.

Joey's seafood is a place I have wanted to visit for a long time. Always with someone who doesn't like seafood.

With the traveling, I am so sick of chain restaurants they make me want to gag. About the only thing I can stand any more are a few items on Applebees. They all get really old on assignments where my hotel doesn't have a kitchen and I eat out all the time.

If you are a lover of fried food (grease everywhere) then Joey's is your place. Frankly, it makes me sick and I like seafood.

A different and good place to go eat is Bracco's. Certainly a different menu than what you will come across at the chain restaurants.

I agree with Minerva's. Not sure what it takes to be a 4 or 5 star though. We love Hu Hot, in fact I'm having lunch there Saturday.
The Argus Leader (local paper) puts out a very good recap on what is going on. It is an insert in the paper, and I'm pretty sure it is called 'Link'. I have learned about several things through that.
And yeah, see something in the Pavillion. We've seen Bill Cosby and Steven Wright there. Would like to see something musical there.

Outdoor activities here would include the bike trails around the Big Sioux River, walking downtown, and visiting Falls Park. Depending on when you're visiting, there may be a festival of some sort... like Jazz Fest, Lifelight, Rib Fest, Hot Summer Nights, etc.

Sioux Falls is too small to have 4-5 star restaurants... You won't find 4 or 5 star hotels either.
But for upscale/recommended dining:
Minerva's - 301 S. Phillips Ave.
Carnaval Brazilian Grill - 2401 S. Carolyn Ave.
Cafe 334 - 334 S. Phillips Ave.
Nucci's Italian Bistro - 5005 S. Western Ave.
Foley's - 2507 S. Shirley Ave.
Sanaa's Gourmet Mediterranean - 401 E. 8th St.

If you're in the mood for something out of the ordinary, there's:
Senor Weiner - 3504 W. 41st St.
Chedd's Gourmet Grilled Cheese - 323 S. Phillips Ave.

About previous posts... Joey's isn't that great... It's basically a Long John Silvers with waiters. Bracco is good... but nothing to write home about.

Good luck with your trip!
