actualy i am not suprised at all,if you guys watched europe cup in 2008 those 2 teams also did a very weak perfomances, the media dis a festival pretty much like now
Strange year. The European powerhouses are putting in poor performances, some of them getting eliminated even before the final 16. While teams that are typically underdogs are advancing.
There's a strong chance it's going to be a South American finals.
isn't just poor perfomances,it's because also one thing------> MODERN FOOTBALL
that thing that brasil wins sweden by 4-0 is over, the "little teams" are pretty good now,and no body expected that, nowdays honduras can play eye to eye to brasil,i don't say that, off course still a bit diference but watch out

What we have seen with Italy and France is a mix of arrogance and complacency. Both failed to renew their teams, showed up with the squads that did well 4 years ago and just assumed they were better than the others.
It could well be a South American final. But, England, Germany, Spain, Netherlands and Portugal are still there. It ain't over yet.

You make a good point. Every team is fit, well drilled, well organized and disciplined. The weaker teams are set out to be hard to beat. So, it takes something a bit more special to do it.
