No it wasn't. If he had made a play on Demsey instead of the ball, it would have been a clear penalty. But he went for the ball and got to it first. It was a clean play on the ball, a fair tackle, and a lousy call. And a couple of dicky yellow cards to go with.

I would have to say that Altidore was the worst player on that field today. He had a terrible game, and the rest of the players didn't do much better. Donovan and Dempsey looked strong on the ball but they have nobody with quality to work with on that team. Two players can only do so much. As much as I hate Ghana right now, they outplayed the U.S. with smarter passes, speed, quicker decisions, and better touch on the ball.
Bradley has some serious work to do with that offense because right now it is non-existent. The offense is lazy and there were no creative runs being made. There was just no urgency at all in today's game. What a shame...
