I was not a fan until the WC.For some reason,MLS is just not interesting to me.But after watching the WC enough to get a few of the nuances of it,I love it.And this from a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan from the days of Dandy Don and Walt Garrison.I think you have to have a grasp of the basics to enjoy anything, and until you watch it enough to appreciate the passing and start to realize the scoring setups when they are coming,it just looks like a bunch of guys running around aimlessly. Now,after watching enough (because of all the WC hype) to get a basic grasp,I am hooked. At least on futbol;we'll see if MLS looks any better after the WC.The cultural aspect may play a part,I don't know.

I think this point needs to be stressed more often - every sport, to a novice, is going to look like a bunch of people running around aimlessly. It takes time to really understand and appreciate a new sport, and I am glad you have taken the time!

You're not being set up friend. I was WRONG, and I am apologizing in a sincere manner. I don't blame you for your doubt. I was being quite the *******, and I truly do apologize.

FOOTBALL is a TRUE sport with TRUE (and GREAT) athletes; I was being childish. I'm big enough of a person to admit when I was wrong. You can watch my future posts and nail me on anything if I detract from what I've said. I'm truly sorry for what I said.

Enjoy the games!

ur a cool dude buzzpost. If you were here I would buy you a beer. I have a friend that was not into soccer at all...always made fun of it. I guess he caught the world cup fever and made it to the sports bar with me today to watch the Netherlands vs Brazil. I think he is going to join me from now on....he is starting to really like it. The atmosphere is like no other !

Thank you for the kind comment. I've actually been watching a little bit of the games as they get closer to the finals, and I'm enjoying it. I haven't been able to watch a whole lot, because I've been too busy between work, home chores, and some hobbies, but I have been able to watch some. I think, like lifertxan said, I just need to understand the rules a little better.

I'll bet the fans of Germany/Spain, and Uraguay/The Netherlands are excited!
