Paris is nowhere near the size of London, and also rugby is a bigger sport in France and they are nowhere near as passionate aboot fitba as the british
Parisian nowhere near as big as London , probably around a third the size , and also the French are more interested in rugby and are nowhere near as passionate aboot fitba as the british
Only one, despite being as big as London PSG is the only relevant team. Red Star and Racing play in the third tier, but their following isn't even remotely comparable to that of PSG.
PSG were formed in 1970 I believe, who did Parisians root for before then?
I think the bold is a big answer to the question re: PSG's support. It isn't like the big clubs in England, Spain, Germany, Italy, etc. where clubs have existed for 100+ years and you support teams your great great grandfather did, so the tradition and history just aren't there. Also as another person mentioned, football in general is not as ingrained in the culture in France as it is in other countries
Correct me if I've forgotten some but the only massive metropolitan areas that come close to London's number of big clubs are Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, and Moscow.
Internationally France were very successful not so many years ago, and there was (and still is) much interest in this sport.
I'd never really thought about teams in Paris and am surprised that there is only one top level team, and a fairly new one at that.
