Italy was happy to get a point against Spain, in what looked like an improvised formation suggested more by desperation than planning.
Prandelli decides to use a 3-player defense for the first time to mimick the Juventus defence and make Bonucci comfortable. De Rossi, the Roma midfielder played central defender for the first time, did well, but was helped by Spain playing with no forward most of the game.

As for the Spain they probably wasted an opportunity: Italy played 3 defenders, with the central being an 34 years old midfielder. You would think Bosque would have used at least a forward instead of playing games with Fabregas "fake 9".

If Torres and Pedro or Llorente come in at halftime it's a different story. Good for my team though.

Croatia's win over Ireland however makes next Italy's game a must win for the azzurri or I can see another "Sweden-Denmark deal", remember the 2-2 that ousted Italy in 2004?

Spain will defeat Ireland, that means if Italy only draw or loses with Croatia, Spain and Croatia will draw the last game and move on, so next Thursday is a must win for Italy and I don't know about that as the offensive power is what it is (no central forward was brought by Prandelli to Euro 2012).

Okay, enough for today. Big game tomorrow between France and England for groud D.

i was impressed with italy yesterday , they looked tired towards the end but were the better team in the first half , spain always have the most possesion but the italians held them back with relative ease for a long time

im fully confident that italy will make it to the next round , ireland made croatia look better than they are last night , ive been saying for a long time that ireland are very poor , we simply do not have the players anymore

Croatia vs. Spain now has become a very interesting match. Also, if Italy fails to advance for the second consecutive major tournament, are we seeing the nadir of Italian football?

i hope italy get through , croatia are pretty ugly to watch , the remind me a little of greece in 2004 , giraffe like central defenders who are impossible to break down

Croatia remind you of Greece? Croatia play good attacking football.

They would need to win the final game, and even then, it would still depend on the Spain vs. Croatia game. If Spain - Croatia ends in a 2 - 2 (or higher) draw, then Italy would be eliminated, no matter what happens in the Italy - Ireland match. Euro '04 all over again?
