I'm glad he has joined them. Though I will never ever understand, why so many in the USA are so hung up on people being gay. I don't know if they can't figure out for themselves, it has been that way for however long. Some people are gay some people are straight, I don't know why. I just don't understand why so many look down their nose, , at the gay segment of the population in this country. From what I have seen of some of American society. I'd rather have some of the gay population living next door. Their property seems to be clean and taken care of, and the majority seem much more in touch with diversity.
So I'm glad this Robbie Rogers joins the LA Galaxy. I hope he will be successful with the team.

I think the US media want to say although Soccer is not the #1 sport in US, The first openly gay player is playing in the MLS and not in the EPL/liga/Bundesliga or any strong soccer league.

Me too, but he has already been successful in this league. He was all-MLS first 11 in 2008 when his team (Columbus Crew) won the championship. He was one of the league's best wingers for several years and also amassed 18 caps for the US national team.
I also don't see what the big deal is, but if it makes others happy I am cool with announcing his sexual preference. Lots of gay people have played professional sprots, the players just didn't know.
So is everybody supposed to be all excited now and be really interested because he came out ?
