this sunday, is the most important day for this country, more important that "shark week", and also more important than "Terminator 5". im referring to the women's world cup final. USA vs Japan from Vancouver, gametime is 6pm central on FOX. we need every American soul near the tube on that day. we can do this, why, cause each and every one of is a proud american.
this game has already been played in a virtual studio in Halifax and the US lost 1 - nil in the shootout

Hey! I'm a proud American, and I'll be watching and cheering on the USA soccer women!

Virtual, eh? Here's to the actual bricks & mortar, muscle & bone game LIVE & IN PERSON -- where anything can happen -- thanks to how a soccer ball actually bounces on a real field!
With apologies to those of you who prefer the words match & pitch!

That's true. Here's a partial from the media back on June 6, 2015.
"All the tournament's fields — six surfaces in six cities — are made of turf. Wambach and players from Germany, Brazil and Spain filed a lawsuit in Canada last year that demanded FIFA and the Canadian Soccer Association install natural grass in the arenas, but the players said they dropped the suit earlier this year because they had filed it too late and FIFA wouldn't budge. This Women's World Cup will be the first ever played on turf, and according to Wambach no major men's tournament has ever been played on turf."
So, women are treated differently by FIFA? They supposedly condemn racism, but don't care about gender discrimination?
I've no idea how it's measured but when people say an athlete has "heart", I'm pretty sure they're not talking about his skills but more his effort and attitude.
But often they refer to effort and attitude when describing an athlete who lacks skill.
Back to the OP: claimng that the US women have more "heart" than the men is an exercise in meaninglessness, since "heart" cannot be measured, while skills can indeed be measured.
No less an authority than Brandi Chastain freely admitted that when the US Womens national team scrimmaged against high school boys "they just booted the ball over our heads and ran around us."
The whole idea of denigrating male athletes to build up female athletes needs to stop. It's cheap, it's an obvious lie, and it accomplishes nothing.
