I did not realize that the field is also going to expand from 32 teams to 48 for 2026. Now there will be 16 groups of 3 teams. 48 seems to be too many, they should have kept it at 32.

Great News !!!The 'United 2026' bid was selected by Fifa member nations, winning 134 votes compared to 65 for Morocco. 1 member voted none of the above. Out of 207, 7 were ineligible (host nations plus Guam, US Virgin Islands).

The US shouldve gone for this on their own and won, across 3 countries is stupid. I wish Morocco wouldve won.

USA was on its own bid in 2022 and lost. Mexico brought votes from Latin American countries and canada bid is important for sprucing up the MLS brand and infrastructure. 65 countries voted for Morocco, that number could have been higher.

I am surprised why Chicago is not one of the Host cities.

Chicago voluntarily dropped out during the application process, so they could of made it to the "group of 17", but chose not to continue. I guess you would have to take it up with the city officials (Mayor/City Council/whoever owns Soldier Field).

Maybe after hosting in 1994, they wanted other cities/different cities to get a chance?

I dont think that giving other cities a chance can be the reason. San Francisco, Los Angeles, New york, Boston, Washington DC, Dallas, Orlando were hosts in 1994 and will be hosting 2026 too.

Chicago has such a strong immigrant population with fans of almost every country. Visiting clubs from Europe play in Chicago.
