how are the car insurance rates ? are they high ? and is it madentory ?
As far as the rates being high it depends. Florence is one of the highest in the nation, higher than most larger citys. It was less when I lived in Dallas and was on the interstate everyday. Other areas are less expensive though. I would call a few agents in SC and just see where you fall.
I agree with lainykai. It will vary quite a bit from city to city.
I went to Clemson and stayed in town working for about 3 years after I graduated. While I was a student, my official residence (thus my insurance rates) was in Abbeville with my parents which was fairly low despite my youth at the time. When I graduated and got my own place, I was a resident of Clemson and had a slightly higher rate. I moved to Greenville a little later, and got a higher rate yet.
Depending on your driving record and the city you intend to live in, your rates could vary as much as 50% or more. If you're considering a move to a certain place, call an agent/go online and get a quote for your specifics in that place. Thats the only way to know for sure.
