Most of the new Ingle's #73 will be built on the site of the first Ingle's #73. This will include produce, delicatessen, bakery, meat, seafood, and Starbucks. The existing Ingle's #73 will close and be razed when parts of the new store is open. The remainder of the new Ingle's #73, which will include the pharmacy and walk-in beer cooler, will be constructed last.

I will be very happy when they have completed construction on this new store. I'm really hoping Ingles will create some downward pressure on gas prices in Powdersville. Gas in Powdersville is pretty consistently 10-15 cents a gallon higher than in Easley, which is just 5 miles away.
The new Ingles stores I've been inside of in NC are also super nice with a huge organic selection and an expanded deli that cooks some food to order. Most of them also have an extensive craft beer selection which would be nice as well.

Ingle's #73, 10903 Anderson Road, Piedmont, South Carolina 29673-8202
The new Ingle's #73 will be the first new Ingle's store in South Carolina in nine years. (The last new stores Ingle's opened was the replacement Ingle's #202, 2375 Chesnee Highway, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29303-5506, in Spartanburg County in 2008.)
I have noticed Ingle's Gas Express' fuel prices to be lower than QuikTrip and Spinx for mid-grade and premium unleaded gasoline. QuikTrip and Spinx's price spreads are 20 to 25 cents between grades. (Spinx has different cash/credit pricing that creates additional higher prices.) Ingle's Gas Express' price spreads are 15 cents between grades.

Has anyone heard anything about why LIDL has not opened a store in Anderson?
LIDL has opened stores across SC in MANY markets that are smaller than Anderson.
Greenwood, Sumter, Florence and Orangeburg all have stores and are all smaller than Anderson!

Lidl is still brand new in the US. Theyve opened in a few places, not many. They have to take into account available land, competition, etc. Anderson just got another Aldi for instance. Theyll be in Anderson sooner than later.

I was in the new Ingles in Franklin, NC over the weekend and was very impressed - one of the nicest mainline grocery stores I've been inside of in recent memory. The Franklin store is 72,000 square feet and I read that the new Powdersville store is targeted at 71,000 square feet so I'm hopeful it will have a similar design.

At 72,000 sq. ft. what do they carry in addition to a regular Ingles store which is pretty large to begin with? I have been in some of the Kroger Marketplace stores and they are more like a Walmart with Jewelry, Clothing, Home departments.

The largest Ingle's stores in Anderson County are approximately 65,000 square feet. The new 72,000-square-feet stores are slightly larger with a different layout for Starbucks, floral, deli, bakery, and produce departments and the inclusion of walk-in beer coolers.

The one in Franklin has a greatly expanded cafe that includes a variety of ready to eat foods and foods that they prepare quickly while you wait. The produce area is also greatly enhanced. They had a huge selection of wine and beer as well. I didn't see much in the way of general merchandise beyond a typical Ingles, though.
It was basically a really nice grocery store that would compete favorably with the nicer Publix and Harris Teeter stores. If the store they are building in Powdersville is similar, I would expect it to be very busy as it serves an area with quite a few households that would utilize an upscale grocery option. The closest Publix to Powdersville is an older, smaller store in Easley. I think Target and Publix are missing an opportunity to locate a store in Powdersville, which is seeing rapid growth that will soon support more retail.
The Walmart Supercenter that was built there is undersized for the business it does, and is frequently out of stock of a wide range of items due to a lack of shelf space and a small stock room. If the Bi-Lo there follows the course of some of the other local Bi-Lo stores, it could present an opportunity for Publix or another savvy grocer to come in and be successful.
