When I used to live in the Pee Dee in the 90s.. it was famous for being a speed trap and for bbq... Just curious on your interest in the town? Relocation or just general information?

Not much in Coward. Really just an old farming community. Barely even a Town. But as mentioned before, best known for an awesome BBQ restaurant and an over ambitious Barney Fife type police force hell bent on writing you a ticket for 39 in a 35.

Yeah.. back in my lead foot days.. I owned a radar detector.. I would be flying down towards town on the straight away to Coward or sometimes Scranton on a BBQ run.. I always made sure someone was in front of me to take the "hit". It never failed.. they would shoot radar beyond the town limit and then nab you once you entered the town . Most people would just pay the ticket as to not have to come to court. I had a buddy at FMU that actually challenged the cop on that point in court and won. Country Cousins was in Coward and School House BBQ in Scranton.. some of the best around.. BBQ in the Pee Dee

Many towns I am sure have done this as it is often a revenue source.. Lynchburg and Timmonsville used to do it as well. Lynchburg used to be downright creative in how they used to hide and pounce on you...they would emerge from some dirt road boat ramp underneath the highway going over the Lynches River and light you up like xmas.. I would be like .@where the hell did you even come from?!@ some real Roscoe type stuff...
