87 room Home2 Suites by Hilton and 325 space parking garage now open in Downtown Anderson.
Magnetic South Brewery, Downtown Anderson's 3rd and largest brewery now open!
Lean Kitchen, a Missouri based chain for fresh chef driven meals which can either be a part of a plan or bought separately, is now open at the Pruitt Shopping Center on N Main St (in between Ace and Family Dollar, behind QT).
Wine and Design now open on N Main, in the shopping center to the left of Papa John's, across the street from Dunkin and Bank of America. The Anderson franchisee sold the Anderson location to the Greenville franchisee and they relocated their spot in town.
Ashley Furniture Homestore is now open in the former Toys R Us. They expanded from 23k sqft to 45k sqft.
AND..
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is under contract and plans to announce soon a location on E Greenville St.
The foreclosure does not include the Belk, Dillard's, or Sears spaces. It does include the JC Penney space though. JC Penney signed a 5 year lease extension in early 2020, with a reduced rate, narrowly avoiding closure.
Firestone is also included when it comes to outparcels. However, IHOP is not included.
The former Anderson, SC Sears space is also still for sale seperately! Multiple retailers and other possibilities have looked at it. One of the more major possibilities is a Mattoon, IL based farm and home store Rural King though they would prefer to be closer to the road so it could maybe be a possibility for them if nothing else becomes available. Rural King was also in talks to and would have very well likely ended up taking over the JC Penney space if JC Penney would have went through with its plans to close. https://www.ruralking.com/

I wonder if the Firestone building was once a JCPenney auto center?
This sounds like a good pickup for Hull Property Group in Augusta that has malls in Greenwood, Sumter, Orangeburg, Concord NC and Macon Ga. among others in smaller markets in the south.
They were originally planning to open in the former Astro theater in Clemson.
Magnetic South was originally planning for Astro but they backed out last second after the pandemic showed some flaws. Some things were that there was not much outside seating on that building along with it not being big enough for good distancing and just the fact that Clemson was struggling a little while the pandemic was happening.
They do have 2 other locations planned for the Upstate including 1 in Clemson.
While the Anderson location is a 10 barrel, Judson Mill in Greenville will get a 10 barrel and Dockside in Clemson is expecting a 1 barrel. Both Anderson and Greenville are closer to 10k sqft though a lot of their major stuff will happen at Anderson. Clemson will be at the Dockside development coming soon by Lake Hartwell, across the street from Hampton Inn and right before the bridge on Tiger Blvd.

I don't suppose they have reached out to Macy's regarding the vacant Sears spot. Although Macy's does not seem to be in expansion mode at the moment, as they are closing secondary stores. But Anderson residents are forced to drive to Greenville or Mall of Georgia to shop at Macy's. Perhaps they are good with Belk, Dillard's, and JCPenney. And don't forget Kohl's. But Macy's would be a nice addition and put that Rural King out on the highway somewhere.

I think that IHOP outparcel may have been a Shoney's Big Boy back in the day. There is a YouTube video featuring Shoney's from Recollection Road, Life in America. And the Shoney's is featured in the video showing the highway in front of Anderson Mall. Looks just like the Shoney's I grew up remembering in Concord, NC, with the big signage with the revolving Big Boy statue in the middle. And the Big Boy statue outside the restaurant. From back in the 70's. Don't know if it is the exact IHOP location now, but there definitely was a Shoney's Big Boy in front of the Anderson Mall. Brings back good memories and I still wish a Big Boy franchise would return to the Upstate, although they are no longer associated with Shoney's. But it is sad to see Shoney's decline from their heyday as a Big Boy franchise. Wish they would rejoin Big Boy and make a comeback.

I have not heard about Macy's but I am sure they have been approached already with how an easy fit another department store would be to take over another former department store.
