The cost of solar is dropping like a rock, hopefully we'll continue to see more and more.

Good news. Without getting into the weeds of whether renewables are a panacea or not, it's nice to see multiple sources of energy being utilized.

That so? From what I hear there is actually a shortage of solar panels in the market place, the way you describe it there should be a surplus.

MK ignore the sites name look at the article.... Solar is so popular right now, we're facing a shortage of panels! : TreeHugger

A lot of those companies that have folded were VC-backed startups that didn't have their feet under them. There's been a major thinning of the herd, especially for companies that backed the wrong tech solutions. There was a Forbes article about it that I remember reading a while back. I'll see if I can find it.

Aren't solar panels made in China now? From what I understand, American companies couldn't compete with the low cost of manufacturing them in China. Manufacturing solar panels and using them for energy are two different things.

Who am I to "blame" China for anything. It's cheaper to make most stuff there than it is here. Duh.

Anyway, this article has more information and I'm not in the mood and never will be to debate tax incentives or subsidies or whatever...
