I would not expect any new Family Dollar stores to close. Low performing stores in direct competition with Dollar Tree would be likely to close. A list of Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores closing directly resulting from the merger has not been released.
The new Dollar Tree is pretty much across the street from a Family Dollar. I sort of doubt any will close either, they all seem to be doing pretty good. I drove over to Pinewood several weeks ago, and I was surprise to see a Family Dollar way out there by the traffic circle. I don't go that direction hardly at all, and last time I was out that way, none of that was there.

Is there a Dollar General nearby the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores?
I believe that is where the new hotel will be located. There is a Maxway located in Palmetto Plaza, not sure if that is the same owner though.
Ok.. Im not a Maxway shopper but obviously there is a need for dollar stores in Sumter. They generated alot of sales (tax) that were captured by the City so ...Im glad that they stayed open along with however many jobs they have there. I remember during my time there.. that there was a biased on the part of some boosters against "wig shops". One booster joked that he didnt realized that there were so many bald people in Sumter....

Has any new information come out about this new hotel? Is it going to be a chain or more boutique like the Hotel Florence? Would love to see a design and get an idea of the height.. though I suspect it wont be taller than about four stories....
