The old Meyers/Arnold-Uptons space is now TJMaxx not Sykes and the former Wilson's/Service Merchandise anchor space is Sykes. Hopefully that space will return to being a retail anchor as it was intended.

I think a sporting goods store like Academy Sports + Outdoors, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Dunham's Sports could be a suitable replacement for Sykes. Greenwood does not have a major sporting goods store yet.

Agree. Dicks or Academy would probably do well there. There is a smaller Hibbett Sports in the mall and a Dillard's Sporting Goods already in town however.

Hibbett Sports is a neighborhood sporting goods store focusing on team and individual sports.

Dillard's Sporting Goods, 1709 Bypass 72 Northeast, Greenwood, South Carolina 29649-1608, started out as a sporting goods retailer. It has expanded into embroidery and customization.

A sporting goods store with both team sports and outdoor sports and lifestyle (i.e. hunting, fishing, camping) remains a necessity in Greenwood.

JCPenney is closing their store at Greenwood Mall in July 2019. They have been in Greenwood almost 100 years moving to the mall in 1979 after having a store in Uptown Greenwood since 1925 prior.
